B.Voc or B.Vocatioal courses are an initiative by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India under the Skill India scheme. The initiative is funded and monitored by the UGC, and educational institutions like SDM are evaluated and provided resources to administer professional courses titled B.Voc. The very nature of these courses is to provide maximum scope for practical exposure and prepare students to be career ready right after under-graduation.
B.Vocational courses instil adequate and specific career based skills in students which help them pursue their specific area of interest and excel in it early. The courses are designed to cater to the competitive and dynamic requirements of the professional sphere.
The certificates for the courses are credited by the Mangalore University.
Qualification for B.Voc courses is completion of Pre-University (+2) in any stream. Anyone willing to join the course with other higher degrees, complete or incomplete, will be allowed.
The entertainment industry in India expands by 12.5% every year, employing a staggering number of young people in a diversified set of creative and technical roles. This course is designed to inculcate and practice expertise in the field of digital media – consisting social media and web content, and film making ranging from short films to feature films. About the association
‘Lumos’ is a student association of B.Voc in Digital Media and Film Making inaugurated on 05 February 2022 by Mr. Shashi Kumar IPS, District Commissioner, Mangaluru City Police.
The association is an entity managed by students of the course, led by office bearers nominated on merit basis by the department faculty. The students organize various events and creative discourses under the association banner throughout the year. The events mostly pertain to the areas of digital media and film making, and occasionally encompass allied areas as well.
