Budakattu Samudaaya Adhyayana Shibira – 2025

The Department of PG Studies and Research in Social Work at SDM College (Autonomous), Ujire, organized a five-day Tribal Study Camp titled “Budakattu Samudaaya Adhyayana Shibira – 2025” from May 20–24 at Poonachi village in Hanur Taluk, Chamarajanagar District. The camp was held in collaboration with Valmiki Maharshi Adivasi Budakattu Vasati Shaale under the theme “Budakattu Shodhane – Samskruti, Samvaada, Sankalpa.”

Over five days, students engaged in field surveys focusing on school dropouts, cultural exchange programs, street plays, and Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) exercises. Highlights included interactions with community elders like Ms. Bhagyashree, a retired tribal school teacher, and participation in local traditions, including a village wedding.

The initiative, led by Dr. Ravishankar KR and Dr. Akshatha K. along with 54 students from I year MSW
