The annual sports meet for the academic year 2023-2024 at Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Autonomous College commenced on March 25. Yogeesh Kumar Nadakara, a senior student and former national athlete, inaugurated the event held at the college’s Dr. D. Ratnavarma Hegde, stadium. Speaking at the inauguration, Yogeesh Kumar stated, "Sports in life bring profound experiences, transcending both mental and physical boundaries. It opens up new lifestyles for us."
Dr. B.A. Kumar Hegde, Principal of the college, addressed the gathering, saying, "Sports play a crucial role in maintaining physical and mental well-being. In today’s world, preserving health is paramount. Devoting at least thirty minutes to sports activities daily is essential for a better life."
The event was attended by Ramesh PD, Sharada, Sudeena, Sandesh Poonja, Directors of Physical Education at the college, and Dr. Mahesh Shetty, NSS Officer, who coordinated the program. Over 30 teams of students participated in various athletic events, showcasing an impressive display of sportsmanship. Volunteers from the Rovers & Rangers team assisted in organizing the event.
