BASIC LIFE SKILLS AND ENTREPRENURSHIP DEVELOPMENT CENTRE [ BLSED ]

Basic Life Skills and Entrepreneurship Development Centre is a Special Centre established under Entrepreneurship & Library Up gradation wing of the CPE Scheme. The Centre Functions as an independent unit to effectively take the benefit of the Scheme to the Students. In the Globalize Scenario, it is very important that the students are equipped with skill suitable for the market driven economy. Keeping this in View, BLSED Centre organizes Capacity Building Programme in Projects.

 

Objectives

  • Bridge the gap between the academic output and socio- economic expectations.
  • Organize need based skill development programmes for the staff and the students.
  • Organize extension programmes that focus on the skill development of the staff and students of the feeding institutions.
  • Organize specific entrepreneurship development programmes to equip the students for self employment
  • Develop skill development training modules.

Basic research and Central Instrumentation [BRIC]

  The college has a Central Instrumentation Centre to cater to the needs of all the science Department of the college. The centre is equipped with a UV-Vis Double beam spectrophotometer, Hemoglobin meter Hb-250, Polymerase chain reaction unit; Microplate reader, Modular baby fermentor, Soxhlet exractor with heating mantle and a rotary vacuum evaporator got through the financial assistance from UGC and management. The Staff and students of various departments use these facilities for their Project work. Primarily BRCI aims at creating awareness among students about scientific research and provides exposure to modern method of analysis. 

 

Basic Information Technology Education Centre [BITEC]

  • The centre was established with a view to train both the UG and PG students in basic information technology.
  • In order to prepare the students both for self employment and wage employment they are enquired with IT Skills.
  • Including software, hardware solutions, maintenance and internet browsing.
  • The staff members too are trained to handle computers and prepare CAL package

 

Centre for Communicative English and Foreign Languages [CCEFL]

Centre for communicative English and Foreign Languages (CCEFL) was established under College with Potential for Excellence (CPE) scheme. The centre facilitates students and staff with multimedia language lab. The learners under go intensive language learning experience through the cutting edge technological support.

            The centre offers certificate courses in Phonetics, Dictionary use, Grammar, Literary Translation, Public speaking, Competitive exams etc. It also produces modules and teaching aids such as teaching learning manuals, language games etc. for classroom teaching.  The centre also offers training programmes in Chinese and German languages.

 

CENTER FOR RURAL STUDIES [CRS]

“Working with rural communities to improve economic, social and cultural well-being “

Associating Departments

Economics and Rural Development,   Social Work, Psychology, Political Science, Journalism, Home Science, Kannada, Statistics, History; and Commerce

Center for rural studies:

  • acts as a collaborating center for various research and extension activities of the associating departments;
  • conduct research methodology courses, workshops, e-content and skill development courses for the teachers
  • programmes for students to undertake student research projects

Programmes undertaken by the Center are;
Awareness Programmes, Weekend Camps, On the Job Training, Field Visits/Surveys, Summer Projects, Guest Lectures, Action Research, Seminar/Workshops/Certificate Courses

Objectives of the Center
In moving toward, the overall goal of improving the economic, psychological, social, political, environmental and cultural well-being in rural communities, and to create, and a healthy generation of new innovative thinking to achieve the goal, the Center for Rural Studies seeks to:

  • Generate new knowledge through multi-disciplinary research and policy analysis about the challenges facing rural communities and potential pathways to sustainability.
  • Expand citizen and policymaker understanding about the contributions of and constraints faced by rural communities and the impacts of national and state policy on rural sustainability.
  • Engage rural communities in learning collaboratively about their strengths and opportunities and empower them to develop strategies to support long-term sustainability
  • Improving rural quality of life, conservation and documentation of rural traditional knowledge’s, collection and preserving the articles of rare.
