Commercialization affecting the quality of Education: Prof. Ananda Krishnan
“Commercializing education is the major factor for the casualty behavior towards the quality maintenance. Today higher education sector has gained much prominence and innovative teaching methodologies are also adopted. So it’s the high time to think about quality education” says Prof. Ananda Krishnan, Chairman of Board of Governors, IIT, Kanpur, as a chief guest of the 2 days National Seminar on “Lesson Learnt from IQAC: Moving Forward and Making a Difference”, held at S.D.M College Ujire on 27th March.
Higher Education must assure quality in every aspects and IQAC (Internal Quality Assurance cell) must be very active to ensure these factors, he added.
Dr. D.Veerendra Heggde, Dharmadhikari Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala and President of SDME Society presided over the function. “Quality is been at most passion of our institutions, not to show off, but for our own satisfaction. Internal development comes not in any crash preparation but in the constant process. He added.
Earlier to this, Prof.H.A.Ranganath, Director NAAC, Bangalore delivering his inaugural address after inaugurating the seminar, NAAC vocabulary is so rich to acquire information from all variety of institutions. The best part is to say that, most of the vocabulary of NAAC is been implemented widely in S.D.M College. This Institution has the quality which most urban institution doesn’t have. Further he said, accreditation has two steps, one is self assessment and another is reformation. This is the continuous process the institution must evolve with it. He added.
The guest of honor Prof. T.C. Shivashankara Murthy, Honorable Vice Chancellor, Mangalore University said, Higher Education is not luxury any more. It has become the need. So we must pronounce expansion, excellence and equity in the education and that is what the quality means. It is now high time to insist IQAC to all institution in order to maintain quality. IQAC to the institution is like daily exercise of healthy man to keep him fit and fine. He added.
