Student Union
- Students Council is constituted in the beginning of every academic year
- Class Representatives will be elected first through election in respective classes and these class representatives will elect the council members.
- Soon after the formalities of student’s council there will be inauguration and oath taking by the council members along with other activities like brainstorming and leadership training.
- The council takes active part in the entire student centred constructive activities of the college.
Student Research Projects:
To encourage the students to take up research work in their interesting area and to encourage students to know the research methodology. Total 472 projects have been completed in the last 4 years and 165 projects have been undertaken during 2009-10.
Student Faculty Project
- The Project was launched during 2006-07 with a view to enrich communicative and public speaking skills in the Students.
- It is a unique and exclusive project launched in our college to identify, train and promote the talented students having flair for teaching.
- The selected outgoing students studying in third year of graduation and second year of post graduation are given a flat-form to teach a minimum of 8 hours to the students of their lower classes.
- Till date 93 UG and 30 PG students have been selected as student faculty and all of then have recorded a commendable performance as effective young teachers.
Mentorship:
Each student has a mentor. A mentor is supposed to be a guide and a caretaker of students and counsel them on academic, personal and inter personal issues. Mentor meets his/her batch of students once in a week. A diary is maintained to document the details of regular interaction.
Midday meals scheme:
The scheme intends to provide lunch for the students hailing from poor families. The scheme is supported very much by our institution, student welfare committee and alumni association of the college. With the support of all of them, we could provide lunch facility to 250 deserving students this year.
Counselling centre:
The centre is established in order to cater to the overall needs of the students. The centre helps the students to prepare themselves in a healthier manner to deal with emotional problems. It boosts the students’ self confidence and providing timely vocational guidance relating to their career. Due to confidentiality the students approach the centre very often in order to overcome their personal problems.
HRD & placement:
In the globalized scenario, it is very important that students are equipped with skills for the market driven economy. Keeping this in view HRD and placement cell of the college organises different skill development programmes. The cell acts as a bridge between the college and corporate sector by organising various campus interviews.
Short term certificate courses:
As a part of institutional initiative to bridge the gap between knowledge inputs and skill requirements having interdisciplinary connotations, choice based mandatory certificate courses were introduced in the academic year 2008-09. The prime goal of the courses is to expose the student on his area of interest and to link it to the professional progress. It is mandatory for the students to study four certificate courses before the completion of their degree course. The students have the option to choose the certificate course of their choice from the bunch of 64 certificate courses offered by various departments in the institution. Each course has a well framed syllabus and inputs were delivered to the students through theory, guest lectures and practical exposure and also field visits wherever necessary. The students eagerly responded for the courses.
Hobby Circle
Hobby Circle is established in the college in order to motivate and inspire the students to cultivate a hobby. The circle organizes, workshops, lecturers and exhibitions, so as to provide a forum for like-minded people and an opportunity for mutual exchange of collections.
College Annual Magazine: ‘MANEESHA’
- The college annual Magazine “MANEESHA” is published every year regularly.
- Since a decade Maneesha has been consecutively bagging ‘Best College Magazine Award’ [Winner / Runner] at the Mangalore University intercollegiate magazine contest.
- Maneesha offers a suitable forum to the budding young writers to express their views and vision through articles.
- The magazine runs for about 500 pages and comprises well edited writeups, reports, articles based on intensive observation, study, survey, research and analysis and other information related to the local, national and international current affairs.
WALL MAGAZINE
27 Wall magazines are regularly published by various departments including hostels. The Committee looks after the regularity and quality of the Wall Magazines. During special occasions like college day celebration all the wall Magazines will be exhibited and the best and highly qualitative Wall Magazines will be rewarded every year.
