Introduction
Library is always considered as the real ‘powerhouse’ of any educational institution. Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara College autocredited / computerized library is having specious building of total 1102 sq. area with proper lighting and ventilation. It has separate reading hall for girls, boys and Lecturers. There is a stack section, a periodical section, a reference section, circulation section, OPAC section etc with all basic amenities. The seating capacity of the library is 360. However there is additional space to accomodate 40 more. Open Access system has been introduced in our library.
Library will be kept open from 8-30 a.m. to 5-30 p.m. on all working days.
Staff:
The staff is the key factor in execution of the functions in any organization. So a sound staff structure is very much needed in order to conduct efficient library services.
The effective participation of the college library in the instruction of students in the use of library tools and bibliography, in defining and carrying out the objectives of the college in collaboration with the faculty, and in extending the use of library materials in education requires a well-qualified and numerically adequate staff of trained librarians. The position of the staff in library service is pivotal. The student body, faculty and public using the library are peculiarly sensitive to its oversight, judgment, and enterprise.
In our library dedicated team of staff find pleasure in providing the best of service to the users in the library. Total number staff in the library is 11, One Chief Librarian, Three Library Assistants, one Computer Operator, One Typist, and Two Attenders & Two Peons.
Automated Library
The Term Automated library denotes a library in which the collections of library materials are primarily on paper but in which the libraries produced have been computerized. Library operations like acquisitions, circulation,retrieving are through computers.
Electronic Library
The term E-library is to describe are apprechnded situation in which documents are stored in eletronic from rather than paper.
